Batch brewing means making a large amount of filter coffee in one go, usually in a commercial or large home machine. The machine sprays hot water over a bed of ground coffee in a big filter, and the coffee drips into a jug or a thermos. It is the best way to serve many cups at one time with a steady quality.
Step by step
- 01
Place a paper filter in the basket and add medium ground coffee.
- 02
Fill the water tank to the amount you need.
- 03
Start the brew cycle.
- 04
Pour the finished coffee into a thermos, so the burner does not scorch it.
- 05
Serve within an hour or two for the best taste.
Taste: Balanced and easy to drink, with a medium body.

How long does batch brew coffee stay fresh?
In a thermos, about one to two hours is good. On a hot plate it tastes burnt much sooner.
What is the best grind for batch brew?
Medium, a little coarser than for a single pour over, because large baskets drain slowly.
