The AeroPress is a plastic cylinder with a plunger and a small paper filter, invented in 2005. You steep coffee and hot water for a short time, then press the mix through the filter into a cup. It is quick, forgiving and almost impossible to break, so it is a favourite of travellers and of competition baristas. You can make a strong concentrate or a lighter cup.
Step by step
- 01
Put a rinsed paper filter in the cap and attach it.
- 02
Add 15 g of medium fine ground coffee to the chamber.
- 03
Add 220 g of hot water, about 90 to 94 degrees Celsius, and stir for 10 seconds.
- 04
Wait for about 1 to 2 minutes.
- 05
Press slowly for 30 seconds until you hear a hiss.
Taste: Smooth, clean and sweet, with a medium body and low bitterness.
