How to use a drip bag
A drip bag is ground coffee in a paper filter with two paper hangers that rest on your cup. No machine, no kettle skills, about three minutes. Here is every step, filmed.

Open the sachet
Tear the outer sachet along the top. The drip bag is inside, a small paper filter holding ground coffee.
- 02
Unfold the paper hangers
Pull the two paper hangers apart until the bag opens into a small cup shape, with the grounds sitting inside.
- 03
Rest it on the cup
Fold the hangers out and rest them on the rim of the cup. They hold the bag steady. A steel flask or a mug both work.
- 04
Wet the grounds
Pour a little hot water, about as much as the grounds can take, in a slow circle. Wait about 30 seconds. This lets the coffee release its gas and taste sweeter.
- 05
Pour slowly in circles
Keep pouring in small circles until the cup holds about what the pack says, usually 150 to 200 ml. A slow pour tastes better than a fast one.
- 06
Lift the bag and drink
When the dripping slows, lift the bag out by its hangers, drop it, and drink the coffee while it is hot.

Do I need a machine to use a drip bag?
No. You need a cup and hot water. That is the whole idea: good coffee in about three minutes without any equipment.
How much water goes in one drip bag?
Most drip bags are made for about 150 to 200 ml of water. Follow the number on your pack.
Can I make iced coffee with a drip bag?
Yes. Brew it directly onto ice at about half the water, so the ice makes up the rest. It melts into a cold, bright cup.
